In contemporary society, apples are typically consumed for their edible parts, while the seeds, stems, branches, and peels are discarded as waste.
However, if we view apples through a historical, cultural, or religious background, they have long been considered precious fruits symbolizing wealth, abundance, immortality, and the duality of human nature.
I examine fruits not only from historical, cultural, and religious perspectives but also through an aesthetic lens. With over 7,500 cultivars of apples worldwide, each possesses distinct sizes, colors, shapes, and patterns.
While observing apples, I was inspired by the cross-sectional view of a halved apple, which reminded me of a butterfly. Butterflies, with their exquisite shapes and vibrant patterns, have been enduring symbols of wealth, happiness, longevity, and beauty.
To me, apples are similarly beautiful and noble fruits. By comparing the diverse beauty of different apple varieties to that of butterflies, I capture and convey their inherent elegance in my artwork, preserving their noble essence on canvas.
